Founded in 2013, Mohini Performing Arts promotes the classical Kerala dance form Mohiniyattam in the U.S. It has grown from a dance hub to a pioneering theater production company. Known for creating original, high-quality Indian Classical Dance Ballets, past productions like Ghanashyam and Nirvana (a Greek mythology-inspired ballet) have earned acclaim. The school has performed at prestigious events like the Soorya Festival, Northwest Folklife Festival, and Seattle Theater Group's 25th 'Dance This' event.

Founder and Artistic Director Smitha Krishnan aimed to raise awareness of Indian classical arts in the U.S. and support artists in India. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she created Nirvana, engaging and compensating over 35 artists in India, helping them support their families when many had to abandon their craft.
